PWSA UK is governed by a Board of Trustees which comprises parents of people with PWS and others, with a wide range of skills.

    Trustees for 2011 - 2012
    Chair: Maria Jordan

I joined the PWSA (UK) Trustee Board in 2000 and became treasurer about three years later. I spent most of my working career in banking, working for JP Morgan, where I specialised in credit and risk management. I took early retirement in order to further some personal goals. These included more long distance travel, learning to cook properly, learning a fourth language and taking on some voluntary work. Thus I have trained as a literacy skills tutor and worked as a volunteer at an Adult Education Centre in London. I became an executive member of the St John's Wood Society, a local amenity group, and of course became a PWSA (UK) Trustee, through my friendship with a family who has a child with PWS. I live in London with my husband, Michael.

    Deputy Chair: Leonard Bartlett

Leonard lives in Northern Ireland with wife Patricia and sons Richard, Phillip, and daughter Ashleigh age 25 who has PWS, diagnosed at three months. He is Chairperson of a very successful and active Northern Ireland Support Group which he helped to establish ten years ago. He works as Deputy Manager with Citizens Advice and specialises in social security benefits. He likes most types of music and sports and still has a great interest in the Boys Brigade company where he was a lieutenant for almost twenty years.

    Treasurer: To be confirmed
    Secretary: Ian Metcalf

    John Booth

John has been a trustee since 1991, chairman from 1996 to 2001 and again from 2006-8. Working life was spent in the oil and gas industry. He and Rosemary, who was also a trustee for many years, have 3 children. Rachel, now 47, has PWS and has lived at The Lodge at Market Overton for nearly 20 years.

    Kate Grussing

I am the proud mother of Alexandra (age 16) who has PWS and we have three younger children. I have lived in London for 21 years but am originally from the US. I became a trustee of the charity in1996 when Alexandra was a toddler. My professional background as an executive search consultant,  management consultant and investment banker (combined with being a working mother) has been helpful skills for the Trustee Board.  Until recently, I was the Treasurer and Trustee of the International PWS Organisation (IPWSO) where I tried to ensure the UK was well connected with its international PWS chapters.  Thanks to lots of input from other families, dedicated medical professionals and the charity, Alexandra is thriving, active, tall and at an appropriate weight (fingers crossed).  We are "enjoying" many new challenges of having a teenager with PWS.

    Frances Brown

I am the mother of Flora who is now 4 and has PWS.  We also have an older daughter who is now 6 and we all live in London. I work as a solicitor and have spent a large part of my career in the City working in corporate finance.  I hope I can contribute the benefit of some of my professional experience to the PWSA Board and also perhaps try to ensure the voice of families with younger children with PWS is heard.

    Bob Kirkland

I joined the board of PWSA UK as trustee in 2011. My involvement with PWSA stems from my friendship with PWSA Secretary Ian Metcalf. I live in Northampton with my wife Anne and have three adult children and a grandson. I am a Director of Travis Perkins PLC.

    Michael Griffin

I became aware of Prader-Willi Syndrome when my granddaughter, Elsie, was born in February 2009. I have 40 years experience in banking and retired in 1998. Since then I have become involved in various local activities, including auditing accounts for the local church and youth club. I am also a Parish Councillor. I play golf when I can and weather permitting and also belong to our village walking group.
