Transition to adulthood

There are a number of changes that you may need to deal with once a person with PWS becomes an adult. They may be leaving school, transferring from child health services to adult health services and possibly wanting more independence. Many adults often leave home to live in residential care or supported living. This page includes information on your options in this respect.

Residential options

We maintain a PWS provider list of all the residential care and supported living services we know of that support people with PWS. Please get in touch if you would like a copy.

We have also recently produced a PWS provider charter which sets out the minimum standards of care that people with PWS should receive. We are asking all PWS providers to sign this and commit to providing this care.

The list of which providers have signed the charter will soon be publicly available.

If you are a residential care or supported living provider, you can find information specific to your requirements here.
