Thank You to Our Fundraisers – Autumn 2026

Since our last fundraising blog, supporters have been raising money and awareness for PWSA UK through cycling, skydiving, running, walking and even a gaming marathon.

Here are some of their stories, with our thanks to everyone who has taken part or supported them.

Nathan’s Everesting Challenge

Nathan completed the Everesting Challenge, cycling up the same hill repeatedly to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest.

His challenge in numbers:

  • 8,848 metres of elevation
  • 78 climbs of Aston Hill
  • 255 miles cycled
  • 19 hours and 48 minutes in the saddle!

Read Nathan’s account of the challenge on Facebook.

Thank you, Nathan, for your determination and for choosing to support PWSA UK through such a demanding challenge.

Tony’s Skydive

Tony took to the skies for a tandem skydive in July.

Tony told us:

“On the 25th July 2026 I did a Charity Tandem Skydive for my daughter's Charity, the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. To say I was a bit apprehensive is an understatement.

However, for a good cause like the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association, I put my fears behind me and went for it. Wow… what a buzz! 10,000ft in the air, and then in seconds I'm falling out of a plane. Very exhilarating, and the views are absolutely amazing.

I would encourage anyone who wants a challenge for charity and for themselves to have a go!”

Thank you, Tony, for facing your fears to raise funds for PWSA UK.

Worstead Preschool’s Run

Members of the Worstead Preschool team completed the Worstead 5 mile challenge, raising £710 for PWSA UK.

Their orange tops helped make the team easy to spot!

Thank you to the team and everyone who supported them, helping to raise awareness of Prader-Willi syndrome along the way.

A 24-hour Gaming Marathon

Andy and friends held a 24-hour gaming marathon at Pixel Busters, who kindly provided the space.

Andy also spoke to local radio about the fundraiser. You can hear his interview on BBC Sounds:

He has also been selling items on eBay to raise further funds.

Thank you to Andy, Pixel Busters and everyone who supported the gaming marathon.

Johnny Takes on The Big Half

Congratulations to Johnny, who completed his first half marathon at The Big Half in under two hours.

His next challenge is the London Marathon, which he will be running for Team PWSA UK next year.

Thank you for your continued support, Johnny. We look forward to cheering you on.

The West Highland Way

After his newborn nephew was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome, Craig decided to raise funds for PWSA UK.

Joined by Colin and four dogs, he walked the West Highland Way over eight days.

Craig has raised £1,452 so far.

Thank you, Craig and Colin, for supporting other people with PWS and their families - with help from your four-legged companions.

The Great North Run

Six runners represented PWSA UK at this year’s Great North Run, raising funds and awareness.

The team included Sean, a grandparent; Tracey, formerly PWSA UK’s Specialist Adviser for Northern Ireland; Daniel, a brother; Claire, a mum; Sian, a family friend; and Danny, Chair of Trustees for PWSA UK.

Together, they raised £6,181.

Thank you to all six runners and everyone who donated or cheered them on.

If you would like to take part next year, please get in touch.

Harris Takes on the Kiltwalk

Harris took on the challenge, put in the training and crossed the finish line with a smile. What an achievement!

Harris said:

“I wanted to do the walk because PWSA UK has helped me and my family so much. I did training, and when I crossed the finish line I was very emotional and very happy.

“I really enjoyed the walk and the experience.”

And as if completing 11 miles wasn’t impressive enough, Harris also raised an incredible £1,020 for PWSA UK.

Harris, we are so grateful for your incredible fundraising and in awe of the determination you showed in taking on this challenge. You should be incredibly proud of yourself.

The Manchester Half Marathon

Jodie, Cerys and George completed the Manchester Half Marathon for PWSA UK.

Together, they raised £1,621.

Thank you to all three runners for their hard work and support.

George, a family friend, has also qualified for next year’s Manchester Marathon. We look forward to hearing how he gets on.

Ruth, mum to Chester, and their family friends are continuing to fundraise in other ways. Ruth is organising a ball on 15th May 2027, with more details to follow.

Chester’s sister, Lola, also raised funds during PWS Awareness Month by designing and selling handmade awareness pin badges. We are grateful to the family and their friends for their continued support.

Lauralee Takes on the Cologne Marathon

Lauralee ran the Cologne Marathon in memory of her late sister, Laetitia.

As well as preparing for the marathon, Lauralee overcame her apprehension about asking for donations. She raised £1,579 and finished in 4:38.

Thank you, Lauralee, for your determination and for supporting PWSA UK in Laetitia’s memory.

Thank You for Your Support

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, sibling, family friend or simply want to help, your fundraising supports our work with people with Prader-Willi syndrome and their families. It also raises awareness and helps more people understand PWS.

You do not need to take on a physical challenge to get involved. Selling handmade items, organising an event or raising awareness locally can all make a difference.

There are still fundraisers under way before the end of the year, and we look forward to sharing their stories.

Thinking about a fundraising challenge for 2027?

If you are thinking about fundraising in 2027, please get in touch. Whether you have an idea or would like some suggestions, the PWSA UK team can help you plan and get started.

Thank you to everyone who has fundraised, donated, shared a fundraising page, raised awareness or cheered our supporters on. We appreciate everything you do for PWSA UK.
